Evangelism Consultation ~ Many small and midsized congregations seek guidance in establishing effective evangelism strategies that fit their particular environments. In partnership with local church leadership, Next Step provides comprehensive evaluation and consultation to develop appropriate tools and ministries for outreach.
Faith Sharing Training ~ Next Step empowers people to confidently and effectively share their faith in Jesus Christ in the context of loving, trusting relationships. In workshop, retreat, and special event settings, Next Step provides study material, preaching, teaching and training to embolden Christ followers to spread the good news of Jesus Christ in their unique environments.
Wide Open Worship ~ Worship is crucial to evangelism. If God isn’t celebrated and adored as Lord in worship, if a deep sense of the reality of God is not fostered in the regular liturgical life of the community of faith, any talk about evangelism will be empty. Next Step provides guidance to congregations in the task of rethinking worship in order to approach it as a means through which people can encounter the presence of the living God. Recognizing that worship is not entertainment or a theater production, but rather an offering of ourselves, Next Step seeks to open worship to the working of the Holy Spirit in the life of each person, particularly those who have not yet discovered the joy of a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Cornerstone Celebrations (offered in partnership with World Methodist Evangelism) ~ Jesus Christ is God’s ultimate self-disclosure, God’s unique means of establishing a relationship of wholeness with all creation. The Cornerstone Celebration is a ministry created to proclaim the event of Jesus Christ, to empower communities of faith to be a vibrant witness to Jesus Christ in their unique contexts, and to awaken, strengthen and enliven the faith commitment of individuals.
The focus of the Cornerstone Celebration ministry is the four cornerstone events of Jesus Christ: theIncarnation – God becomes human in Jesus of Nazareth, the Crucifixion – Jesus lays down his life for the redemption of the world, the Resurrection – God triumphs over sin and death in raising Jesus from the dead, and Pentecost – God gives the Holy Spirit of Jesus to all who believe. The celebrations include spiritual development and visioning through five weeks of guided study in small group settings and culminating in a three-day experience designed to emphasize the world transforming event of Jesus Christ through worship celebrations of the four cornerstone events in the life of Christ. Through a variety of activities that blend proclamation, learning, study and dialogue, persons are challenged and encouraged to make a personal response to the good news of Jesus Christ, to incorporate personal faith sharing into their daily lives and to discover the living Christ in their own unique contexts.
Spiritual Development ~ Next Step tailors preaching and teaching events to meet the needs of congregations and other groups in a variety of areas such as discipleship, prayer and meditation, connecting faith with daily life, ethics and the moral life, the interwoven nature of personal and social holiness, women’s ministries, and others.
